My philosophy about creativity:
Being creative makes life fun and guess what? You don't have to go to the store and buy a bunch of stuff to be crafty! Sometimes the best projects come from unexpected places like your sock drawer!
Hi, I'm Caroline and since 2009, Salsa Pie has been dedicated to DIY project ideas, sharing thoughts on creativity and imaginative activities to inspire your inner artistic side!
The projects and activities you'll find here are inexpensive and simple.
Since I have four small children many of my projects are geared towards the little folks. But I also enjoy being crafty so I share lots of DIY ideas for the grown-ups too!
I take my pictures with a digital Sony Cybershot and do a lot of editing in photobucket as well as Piknic. I have a degree in ornamental horticulture, a professional background in the art world (which includes working as assistant curator of a renowned sculpture garden) and experience in floral design. As a personal hobby I love to paint.
Today, I am busy at home with my husband, four young children and my budding blogging career.
I am thankful.
FAQ's
1. What's your secret for pulling all this stuff off?
I think I have days when I can pull it all together and days when I'm lucky if I can find a matching sock around the house. We do have a happy house and lots of fun around here, but that doesn't mean that every meal that I make is great or that my house is always tidy or that I (by any means) have all the parenting answers. I do my best and love my children with all my heart and when I have a free moment, I try to have fun with them in a creative way. That's my story.
2. I notice you've never written your children's names in a post. Any reason why?
This blog is designed to be an inspirational tool, not a diary of our lives. While I love blogs like that (and am guilty of reading and adoring many of them) that's just not the format here. I do post things about our lives from time to time (like "we're out sick", or "yesterday was a doozy") but my real goal is that you will forget about us. Since this is a blog all about inspiring others to be creative, I'd like you to see yourself in us.
3. Why do you blog?
It's a creative outlet for me and it encourages me to think of artistic activities that will get my children motivated. Hopefully I am instilling in them a sense of confidence that they can be imaginative and creative on their own once they leave my nest.
I also like the idea that I am inspiring other parents out there. Parenting is one of the most important roles in our lives.
4. I like your ideas, can I share them?
I never mind if you want to share one of our ideas, or even a picture, I only ask that you just let me know that you're linking it or posting about it by sending an email to salsapie (at) gmail (dot) com.
5. Can I advertise with you?
Yes! You can email me salsapie at gmail dot com for information about rates!
If you would still like to know a little more, here is an interview that explores more about my creative process and my space at home.
